DOGMA

DOGMA is a 1v1 fighting game built around bold character identities and striking, high-impact arenas. Each fighter is designed with two distinct variations, offering different mechanics, strengths, and playstyles, allowing players to explore multiple expressions of the same character and choose how they want to fight.

1. Blade

Blade
For Blade’s variations, I wanted to explore two distinct narrative paths. The version represented by their more casual outfit envisions a Blade who, after being betrayed by a trusted comrade, abandons their military post and becomes a contracted killer driven by vengeance.

Their second variation has Blade continue down their military path, a path where the betrayal never happened. While only one variation would exist in canon, both would be playable in the actual game. The other variations are meant to serve as a “what if” for characters.

Blade was given their name initially as a joke because they accidentally cut off their tail in an accident while in training. The name used to be used to mock them, but is now a name that most people fear (mostly due to lack of context).

How Blade’s Rifle (Thunder Bolt Rifle, TBR for short) would swap from Duelist Mode (Sword Mode) to Marksman Mode (Gun Mode). Due to the design of their weapon, there is only one proper direction to slash with.

For me, the hardest part of Blade’s design was creating the TBR; every aspect of the process was challenging, from selecting the gun type to the transformation. I wanted the transformation to seem plausible while still bending the rules of reality a bit.
